Walkthrough of the install

01

Threshold layout: where the first full tile lands

The shower entry is the most visible transition in the room — anyone walking in sees it first. We squared the layout so the full tiles land at the threshold and the cuts fall against the walls where they're hidden by baseboard trim or furniture. The threshold reads as a precise, intentional line.

02

Shower floor vs. main floor: same tile, different slope

The same tile runs continuously through the room, but the shower zone slopes gently toward the drain while the main floor is flat. The slope is built into the mortar bed, not the tile. Visually the floor reads as one plane; functionally the shower drains.

03

Grout choice for a high-use bathroom floor

Standard cement grout stains over time, especially in a bathroom. We spec'd a stain-resistant polymer-modified grout in a color slightly darker than the tile. Easy to wipe clean, doesn't yellow, and the darker joint line stays visually consistent as the tile ages.
